So many people come into this world, but how many attain such a great life? How many remain in people's hearts for generation after generation? And how many are capable of such devotion? One who attained such a great life was Haji Muhammad Mohsin. He was a man of many virtues. Above all, Haji Muhammad Mohsin won worldwide fame as a 'Danbir', a great philanthropist, as we all know. He made an extraordinary contribution to education. Many organizations and institutions still run on his endowments. He also personally looked into people's circumstances and helped them. According to government records of 1769–1770, he set up many 'langarkhanas' (free kitchens) during the famine of that time, and even contributed money to the government relief fund. Earning worldwide fame as a philanthropist was not easy; he earned this title through many ups and downs. Shunning a life of luxury, he lived simply. Absorbed in study, travel and giving, he forgot about family life altogether and remained unmarried all his life.
