Bhai Girish Chandra Sen
The first complete translation of the Holy Quran into Bangla
Girish Chandra Sen (c. 1835–1910) spent years studying Arabic and Islamic texts, and between 1881 and 1886 he completed the first full translation of the Holy Quran into Bangla. The Muslims of Bengal honoured him as Bhai Girish Chandra.
The late Mohiuddin Ahmed, founderKhoshroz Kitab Mahal, which he founded in 1939, publishes this translation today and sends it to readers in Bangladesh and around the world.
